CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Continuing what has already been a record-setting season, the McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball team added another milestone Wednesday, opening the Southland Conference Championship with a sweep before finishing the day 1-1 to move to 22-6 overall.

McNeese wasted no time setting the tone in its tournament opener, sweeping Stephen F. Austin 3-0 in a dual played to the clinching point format. The Sandy Pokes grabbed early momentum with wins on courts two and four to take a 2-0 lead. The top pair of Kendall Osgood and McKenzie Moore delivered the clincher on court one, securing the victory and pushing McNeese into the next round.

In the afternoon match up, the Cowgirls dropped a 3-0 decision to Southeastern. McNeese fell behind early after narrow losses on courts two and four but showed resilience in the second flight. Courts one, three, and five each opened with first set wins before being forced into decisive sets they could not close out. Southeastern sealed the dual with the clinching point on court five.

McNeese will continue tournament play Thursday at 11 a.m. against No. 5 seed New Orleans. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, with a win sending the Cowgirls into a 3 p.m. match up later that afternoon.
