SB: Cowgirls Win Opening Game Of SLC Series at East Texas A&M; Game 2 Postponed to Saturday

COMMERCE, Texas--  McNeese softball opened its series at East Texas A&M with a 13-5 rune-rule win and held a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning of the nightcap before the  game was postponed due to lightning delays. 

Friday's second game will resume at 11 a.m. Saturday morning with the series finale set to start 30 minutes following.

McNeese (33-18, 16-9 SLC) scored 13 runs on 13 in the opening game.  The loss drops East Texas A&M to 6-44 overall and 1-24 in the SLC.
Ten Cowgirls picked up at least one hit in the game.  Kassidy Chance, Maddie Weeks, and Alana Daigle all led the Cowgirls with two hits apiece.  Of the 13 hits eight were extra base hits including Jada Muñoz's seventh homerun of the season.

McNeese scored at least one run in each of the five inning and blew the game open with six runs in the fourth inning to lead 10-0 the added three more runs in the fifth.

The Lions scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning following a few Cowgirl pitching changes.

Maddie Taylor improved to 13-4 overall with the win.  Taylor tossed four shutout innings and allowed four hits with one walk, and five strikeouts.  
McNeese took a 2-0 lead in the nightcap by scoring a single run in the second and one in the fourth before the game was postponed.

Jada Muñoz reached base with a one out walk, stole second then went to third on a fly out by Corine Poncho.  A wild pitch allowed Muñoz to score for the 1-0 lead.

McNeese got its second run of the game from a few Lion errors in the fourth inning that allowed Rylee Cloud to score.
