COMMERCE, Texas-- McNeese softball completed the series sweep over East Texas A&M here Saturday with a 6-0 win in the first game that complete Friday's second game of the doubleheader that was suspended due to lightning delays. The Cowgirls ended the series with a 9-0 win in the series finale.
With the sweep over East Texas A&M and a Northwestern State win over Nicholls, McNeese will host one of the two Southland Conference Bracket Play Tournaments set for April 30-May 3. More information about seedings and tickets will be available later.
McNeese improves to 35-18 overall and 18-9 in the SLC. East Texas A&M ends its season 6-46 overall and 1-26 in the SLC.
G2 Continuation From Friday- McNeese picked up where they left off following the suspended second game on Friday to win 6-0. Prior to the game being suspended due to lightning, McNeese held a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
A double steal allowed
Alexis Dibbley to score for a 3-0 lead in the fifth. A solo homerun by
Corine Poncho and a run by
Meiko Dominguez put the Cowgirls up 6-0.
The final Cowgirl run came when
Adriana Mireles scored on a throw down to second.
Series Finale
McNeese scored four runs in the first inning with three runs coming on a three-run homerun by
Rylee Cloud. The other run came on a double steal that scored
Jada Muñoz.
Dibbley scored in the second inning for a 5-0 lead during on a run down between first and second caught
Kassidy Chance stealing for the third out.
Jada Muñoz continued her solid weekend with a solo homerun for a 6-0 McNeese lead. The homerun for Muñoz is her second of the series and ninth of the season.
McNeese scored three runs in the sixth to extend its lead to 9-0. A pinch hit single to left by
Delaney Dunham scored
Corine Poncho who led the inning off with a walk then stole second to move into scoring position. Two more runs scored on sacrifice flies by
Nyjah Fontenot and
Kassidy Chance.
