BATON ROUGE – McNeese produced a solid showing at the LSU Alumni Gold track and field meet over the weekend with three Cowboys recording personal bests in the process.
 
Cowgirl thrower Jaslyn Russell continued her dominance this season in the shot put, winning for the third time on the season, including in her second straight meet, after she threw 50-10.25, beating out Vanderbilt's Sarah Martin on her second to last throw of the contest. Russell also finished sixth in the hammer throw and 13^th in the discus.

The Cowgirl 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Jashyra Thomas, Janayah Dotson, Keelei Dorsey and Alexandria Stewart posted a season-best time of 3:43.81 for an eighth-place finish. That mark is also the third-fastest time in school history and is ranked No. 4 in the Southland Conference this season.
 
On the men's side, Nathan Waller clocked a PR in the 1500-meters with a second-place time of 3:56.18 while jumper Amire Ledet finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 49-6.25 to match a season-best.
 
Lawson Fritsch cleared 16-2.75 in the pole vault to post a new personal record while placing fourth. That mark moved him into the No. 4 spot in the Southland Conference this season. Javelin thrower Tanny Beard finished third in his event with a throw of 200-1, marking the second time this season he's gone over 200 feet.
 
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will return to action this weekend when they take part in the ULM Warhawk Invitational in the final tune-up before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships May 14-16 at SFA.
