LAKE CHARLES—McNeese Softball, the Southland Conference Tournament champs and the NCAA automatic qualifier, will travel to the College Station, Texas Region where they will open play against Arizona State on Friday, May 15. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. (CT) and the game will stream on ESPN+. The double elimination tournament runs through Sunday, May 17.
McNeese (40-20) is making its 10
th NCAA Tournament appearance and will be the No. 3 seed in the region. Arizona State (41-16) are the Big 12 Tournament Champions and are the regions No. 2 seed.
Also in the College Station Region is No. 1 seed Texas A&M and No. 4 seed UConn.
This will be the third time McNeese plays at the College Station Region. The Cowgirls also played in 2005 and 2018, and it will be the third NCAA Tournament game against Arizona State.
McNeese is 1-1 in region play against the Sun Devils with both games taking place in the Baton Rouge Region in 2016. The Cowgirls defeated the Sun Devils 5-2 before being eliminated 3-2 by the Sun Devils in a 14-inning game.
