McNeese signs Justin Hill to 4-year contract extension

| By:
LAKE CHARLES - McNeese baseball head coach Justin Hill, the winningest coach in school history and winningest active coach in Louisiana and the Southland Conference at the same school with 396 wins in 13 seasons, has signed a four-year contract extension, Director of Athletics Bridget Martin has announced.

"Coach Hill has set the standard for excellence on and off the field," said Martin. "This contract extension reflects the confidence we have in the baseball program under his leadership."

"My family and I are so grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead the McNeese baseball program," said Hill. "While the world of college athletics is full of uncertainty, two things have never wavered: the support we've always received from our McNeese family, and our family's commitment to this community as a whole. Thank you to our new president, Mr. Michael Reese, Director of Athletics, Bridget Martin, and Deputy AD Matt Fontenot, for their faith in me to continue as the leader of our baseball program. I am especially indebted to our coaches, our support staff, and most of all our student-athletes, both former and current, who trust us during one of the most important formational times of their lives. I am beyond grateful. Geaux Pokes!"

In his 13 seasons, Hill has guided the Cowboys to three league titles, the 2017 and 2022 regular season championships and the 2019 and 2021 tournament titles. The Cowboys have appeared in the SLC tournament championship game/series in two of the last three seasons and five out of the last seven years. Hill led the Cowboys to the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Regionals.

His teams have picked up eight wins over nationally ranked teams including the program's first-ever win over a No. 1 squad when the Cowboys defeated LSU, 7-6, this past season. In 2017, the Cowboys ranked in the Top 30 national rankings.

In his 13 seasons, Hill has compiled a 396-311 overall record ranking him sixth all-time in Southland Conference history in victories while his .560 winning percentage ranks in the top 20 all-time in the league.

Hill's teams have won 30 or more games in 11 of his seasons (the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID pandemic) while his teams have qualified for the league's postseason tournament in each of his 13 seasons.
