LAKE CHARLES - McNeese held its final scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday night in front of several hundred fans for Fan Fest in Navarre Stadium with the offense showing some spark with a half a dozen plays going for 40 yards or more including a 90-yard touchdown run by running back Tre'Vonte Citizen.
 
"Offensively, we hit some big ones," said head coach Matt Viator. "We definitely had some explosive plays. We do need to sustain drives better than what we did but defensively, we had our moments."
 
Throughout the mostly situational scrimmage, quarterback Jake Strong completed passes of 64 and 45 yards to Curtis "CJ" Deville and Elisha Edwards respectively. Devin Lippold completed a 50-yard pass to Deville while Brandon Barrier completed a 40-yard pass to Jalen Wright.
 
On the ground, Citizen's 90-yard touchdown blast came in the second session of situations with the ball starting at the 2-yard line. Citizen found a gaping hole and was never touched as he used his speed to get to the end zone. Quarterback Gavin Stout posted a 45-yard run as well.
 
"I think we're progressing well," said Viator. "This was our first actual evening practice and we'll have another one next week to try to get the guys ready for this time frame."
 
There is no scrimmage planned for next Saturday.
 
The defense had its moments as well with several sacks and an interception by linebacker Trace Meadows.
