PENSACOLA, Fla. – After a morning of weather delays, the McNeese Cowgirl soccer team (3-2-0) dropped its second match of the season Thursday afternoon, falling 3-1 to West Florida.
West Florida wasted no time finding the back of the net once play got underway, as Kaitlyn Herb scored in the first minute to give the Argonauts an early 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Olof Thorvaldsdottir found the back of the net to extend West Florida's advantage to 2-0.
The Cowgirls quickly answered as
Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond scored two minutes later to cut the Argonauts' lead to 2-1. The score remained unchanged heading into halftime.
West Florida added to its lead in the 73rd minute after the Argonauts were awarded a penalty kick. Lucia Revuelto converted the opportunity to push the score to 3-1.
