LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Cowgirl soccer (3-3-0) fell to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (4-1-1), 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Field.
UL Lafayette opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Maria Reyes found Lily Parker, who put the Ragin' Cajuns ahead 1-0.
McNeese answered just three minutes later as
Isabella Baltov found the back of the net in the 39th minute off an assist from
Ashley Guild to even the match at 1-1. The goal marked Baltov's second collegiate goal.
The Ragin' Cajuns regained the lead in the 42nd minute when Addison Soehn sent a corner kick into the box, where Salma Elhaimer headed it into the net to give UL Lafayette a 2-1 advantage. The Cajuns added another goal just before halftime as Sophia Moore found the back of the net in the 45th minute to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
UL Lafayette added its final goal in the 62nd minute when Lanie Benoit connected with Maiya Clark to push the lead to 4-1.
