                                    The McNeese State University Sports Medicine Staff is responsible for matters pertaining to the health and well-being of each student-athlete. Our staff is committed to providing the highest level of patient care, education, and service, as well as helping to direct the nutritional, physiological, and psychosocial needs of the student-athlete. We will utilize the best evidence-based medicine to achieve optimal outcomes with each patient, allowing our athletic teams the opportunity for success.
 
Dowell Fontenot Sports Medicine Center
McNeese State’s Dowell “Doc” Fontenot Sports Medicine Center is an ultra-modern facility and one of the finest in the South.  It is named after longtime McNeese Athletic Trainer Dowell Fontenot who was also a national champion boxer during his undergraduate days at the university and who is a member of the McNeese Hall of Fame and Louisiana Athletic Trainers’ Association (LATA) Hall of Fame.  The center is located is located on the east side of the Jack V. Doland Athletics Complex. It can be accessed off of East McNeese Street.  Funds for the 6200 square foot medical center were obtained from the McNeese PetroChem Association, the state, private donations, and the Cowboy Club.
