LAKE CHARLES—The McNeese Women's basketball team, who are in the midst of finals will be tested on Sunday when the Cowgirls (5-1) travel to New Orleans to face Tulane (4-3) at 2 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tulane holds a 13-8 overall record against McNeese and has won the last seven games against the Cowgirls. The last McNeese win over Tulane came during the 1991-92 season with a 72-55 win at Tulane.
McNeese has won its last five games including its last four home games and are coming off a 73-59 win against Louisiana College on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Jasmyn Carswell, who leads the team with 8.0 rpg., is coming off her first career double double (10 points, 13 reb.). Seniors
Allison Baggett and
Jayln Johnson are the only two Cowgirls averaging in double figures. Baggett is averaging 14.3 ppg. and has a team high 87.5 free throw percent. Johnson is averaging 10.3 ppg. and leads the team in assists (4.7) and steals (2.5). Junior
Amber Donnes, who gave the Cowgirls a spark off the bench against Louisiana College with 14 points, is shooting 50 percent from 3-point range, having made 10 of her 20 attempts.
The Green Wave is coming off a 1-2 record at the Paradise Jam Tournament in the Virgin Islands last weekend. Tulane picked up a 67-62 win over Virginia in their final game of the tournament following losses to Rutgers (75-51) and Green Bay (79-58). Kolby Morgan leads Tulane in scoring (18.6 ppg.) and Leslie Vorpahl is also averaging in double figures with 11.7 ppg. Harlyn Wyatt leads the team with 5.0 rpg.
