LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball will take its five game winning streak on the road to Texas A&M Corpus Christi this weekend for a three game Southland Conference series that begins Friday.

The series will get underway with a single game at 3 p.m. Friday and will conclude with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

McNeese (17-6, 3-0 SLC) is coming off a 2-1 road win at UTSA on Wednesday that saw freshman
Erika Piancastelli continue her hot hitting. The rookie from Carlsbad, California has hit at least one home run in the last four games and has seven on the season. She is third on the team with a .397 average and is tied for a team high 27 hits. She also has a team high eight doubles and 22 RBI.

Senior centerfielder
Lauren Langner leads the Cowgirls with a .409 average and also has 27 hits on the season. Langner also has five doubles on the year.

Freshman infielder
Hailey Drew is batting .407 and is second on the team with 17 RBI and 15 runs scored. Drew has 22 hits on the season and leads the team with 16 walks and 11 stolen bases.

In the circle, the Cowgirls have five pitchers on the staff that have contributed to the Cowgirls success. Junior
Emily Vincent leads the team with a 7-1 record and a 1.08 ERA. Vincent also has two shutouts in 45.1 innings pitched.

Sophomore Smith is 6-2 with a 1.97 ERA and leads the team with 44 strikeouts. Smith has thrown 44 innings.

Jamie Allred evened her record at 3-3 after picking up the 2-1 win at UTSA on Wednesday. Allred has pitched in 48.1 innings and leads McNeese with two saves. She enters the weekend with a 3.91 ERA.

McNeese opened up conference play with a series sweep over Sam Houston State last weekend.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-15, 0-3 SLC) was swept by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend in Conway. The Islanders are led by Cosette Hernandez's .310 average. Hernandez is tied for a team high 18 hits. Lindsey Lyles leads the Islanders with five home runs and has a .231 batting average.
