McNeese softball will host Louisiana Tech in a midweek game Wednesday night at 6 p.m. before concluding its home slate with a Southland series against Lamar this weekend.
McNeese (29-18), is on a three games winning streak after taking a Southland Conference road series from Southeastern La. last weekend.
Freshman catcher,
Erika Piancastelli who was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for the third time continues to lead McNeese at the plate. The Carlsbad, Calif. native leads the team with a .429 batting average, .940 slugging percent, .534 on base percent, 57 hits, 39 runs scored, 52 RBI, 14 doubles and set a McNeese single season home run with her 18
th long ball in the opening game of the series at SE La. She is six shy of setting a new conference season home run record set by Jessica Rogers in 2005.
Senior
Lauren Langner is also having a stellar season and is also on the verge of setting two new McNeese records. Langner enters the game with 221 career hits, six shy of tying the record and has 29 career sacrifice hits, three shy of tying that record. Claire Terracina, who was a standout outfielder for the Cowgirls from 2009-12, holds the career hits record with 227. Liz Morvant holds the career sacrifice hits record with 32. She was also an outfielder from 2007-10.
Junior
Emily Vincent continues to lead the pitching staff with a 11-5 record, a 1.61 ERA and 95 strikeouts. Freshman
Jolie Trahan is coming off her first career wins after picking up two victories Sunday in relief in the doubleheader at Southeastern La.
Louisiana Tech (26-13) will travel to UL-Monroe Tuesday night before heading to Lake Charles on Wednesday. The Lady Techsters enter the UL-Monroe game on a three game losing streak.
Junior catcher Krysta Tutsch leads La. Tech with a .371 batting average and is tied with Pauline Tufi for team high nine home runs. Pitcher Bianca Duran leads Tech with 46 hits, 10 doubles and 34 RBI along with 13 wins in the circle and a 2.63 ERA. Bailey Allen has a 6-1 record with a team low 2.43 ERA.
The three game Southland Conference series against Lamar will begin with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday. The series will conclude with a 3 p.m. doubleheader Saturday. Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, McNeese will honor seniors
Bianca Lilly and
Lauren Langner.
