LAKE CHARLES – Following a two-week hiatus from action on the courts, the McNeese women's tennis team returns to Southland Conference action against Incarnate Word Sunday at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.
The match is slated for 11 a.m. and free Jimmy John's sandwiches will be provided for those in attendance.
The Cowgirls (11-4, 4-0) will look to protect a six-match winning streak in their contest and will attempt for their fifth consecutive league win. McNeese has won three straight matches at home.
It has been a dominating couple of weeks for the Pokes, who possess a 65-24 record in singles matches this year, the most among all squads in the Southland Conference.
Sophomore
Hannah Brett has won a team-high eight straight victories from her respective position and leads the squad with 12 wins. Four different Cowgirls have won four or more consecutive matches in singles. In doubles, McNeese holds a 21-12 combined doubles mark.
Incarnate Word (2-12, 0-4 SLC) enters the match on a six-game losing skid with its last win coming against Prairie View A&M on February 21. The Cardinals are led in singles wins by Sarah Sevedra and Taryn Strahl with five apiece.
The Pokes hold a 2-0 lead in the all-time series against UIW and won last season's match in San Antonio, 7-0.
