LAKE CHARLES – McNeese wrapped up its competition at both the Rice Victor Lopez Classic and the ULL Louisiana Classics on Saturday with several athletes posting top three finishes in their respective events.
At ULL,
Nicole Casper posted a season-best mark in the pole vault after a second place finish with a clearing of 13-feet, 5 ¼-inches.
Discus thrower
RaKira Turner moved up to No. 2 in the Southland Conference following a third place finish with a mark of 157-00. Turner also finished third in the shot put at 44-08.25.
The Cowgirls' 4x100 relay team made up of
Danielle Epps,
Victoria Martin,
Simone Johnson and
Maegan Moore, clocked a second place time of 46.10 for the fastest time on the season and second fastest mark in the conference this spring.
On the men's side,
John Lemke took second in the triple jump with a mark of 49-00.75.
At the Victor Lopez Classic,
Oliver James placed third in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:49.47 and breaking his previous personal record by nearly three seconds.
