GAINSVILLE, Fla. – McNeese junior triple jumper
John Lemke etched his name in the McNeese record book on the third and final day of the Pepsi Florida Relays here Saturday when the Lake Charles native set a new personal record with a mark of 51-feet, 5-inches to finish in eighth place in the event.
Lemke's mark is ranked as the fourth-best leap in school history in the event and is one of four performances on the day that saw marks crack the top five best chart in program history.
The Cowboys' distance medley relay team made up of
Luke Betts,
Finlay Murray,
Olandis Johnson and
Oliver James placed sixth in the event with a time of 10:05.43, good enough to jump into third on the school's all-time list in the event. The Cowgirls DMR squad (
Rhian Dawes,
Kristian Ojonta,
Imogen Hull and
Leonie Weber) finished ninth with its fastest clocking in several years at 12:21.23.
In addition to those marks, the women's 4x200 relay team of
Danielle Epps,
Victoria Martin,
Simone Johnson and
Maegan Moore clocked the fourth-fastest time in school history with a mark of 1:40.71.
That same squad made up the 4x100 relay team that ran a 46.22 on the day while the men's 4x100 relay squad (
Tyler Smith,
Jaylen Goodly,
Trace Trosclair,
Kartavius Hamilton) won its heat with a time of 41.59.
One other McNeese performance on the day involved
RaKira Turner who threw 41-10.50 in the women's shot put.
McNeese returns home to host the Springtime Classics next Saturday at the Cameron Communications Track and Field Complex.
