LAKE CHARLES – McNeese track and field capped off its home slate on Saturday at the Lake Area Runners Springtime Classic with the Cowboys winning the team title behind 181 points and the Cowgirls finishing second with 137 total points.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls combined to record 12 first place finishes on the day an another 16 athletes who posted personal bests.

Brendon Gilroy also recognized this year's senior class that features 13 seniors.

One of those seniors,
Enock Bor, was a double winner on Saturday after taking first in both the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He ran a 4:04.74 in the 1,500 meters and set a new personal best in the steeplechase with a time of 9:27.56. That time also moves him up to third on the Southland Conference ranking list.

Freshman sprinter
Tyler Smith made a big jump in the SLC rankings after he posted a PR time of 10.59 in the 100-meter dash for a third place finish. That moved him up from No. 11 into a tie for fourth in the league.

Former McNeese sprinter Charles Jackson, who is running for the US Express Elite Club, won the event with a time of 10.40.

Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls' teams swept the top three spots in the 5,000-meter races.

For the Cowgirls, Abby Rodseth took first with a time of 18:18.26 followed by
Katja Woelfl at 18:19.56 and
Gemma Bridge with an 18:19.63.

The Cowboys finished a lot tighter as the three all crossed the finish line within .08 seconds apart.

Fisher Hamilton won the event with a time of 15:32.14 to edge out
Nathan Jones who finished at 15:32.19 and
Enrique Soto at 15:32.22.

Imogen Hull won the women's 1,500-meters with a time of 4:51.27 and
Morgan Woods took first in the women's javelin event with a throw of 139-03.
RaKira Turner was the top collegian to place in the women's discus with a mark of 154-11.

On the men's side, freshman javelin thrower Donavon Banks continued to make an impression as he topped his previous best with a first place throw of 215-11, a mark that inches him closer to the top spot in the league rankings.

Hiram Morales finished first in the shot put with a throw of 54-02; Landon Dore was first in the pole vault at 15-1.25;
Kartavius Hamilton took gold in the long jump at 23-10; and
Darko Radakovic finished first in the discus with a throw of 156-0.

Olandis Johnson took home first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.60 and the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Smith,
Jaylen Goodly,
Trace Trosclair and Hamilton placed first with a time of 41.37.

McNeese will be back in action next weekend at the SLU Lion Invitational.
