LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.
 
The loss dipped the Cowgirls to 8-8 on the year and 3-2 in conference on the season as the Wildcats improved to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.
 
McNeese picked up the doubles point in the first portion of Saturday's contest as the team of Viven Borbebly and Charoline Erlandsson improved to 5-0 in league action as they defeated ACU's Lucile Pothier and Sarah Adams, 6-4. Giovanna Fioretti and Stella Carra clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Jordan Henry and Ansley Boarman.
 
ACU struck back in singles play as they rallied with four consecutive wins on Courts 1, 3, 4 and 6 to take the match point over the Cowgirls.
 
Erlandsson was the lone McNeese player to pick up a point with a three-set comeback victory over Henry 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the fifth spot. Erlandsson is now 3-2 in league singles and has won three of her last five matches against Southland foes.
 
The only other match to go three sets was between Sarah Jurakova and Whitney Williams in the second spot.
 
The Pokes hit the road for matches at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word next weekend before returning home to face Central Arkansas.
