LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will look to remain undefeated in conference action this weekend when the Cowgirls take on Northwestern State in a three game series beginning with a 6 p.m. game Friday night. The series will continue with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday. All game will be broadcast on the McNeese Radio Network (KEZM 1310 AM) and kezmonline.com. McNeese (23-11, 9-0 SLC) is riding a four game winning streak after picking up a 1-0 road win at Houston Wednesday.
 
Sophomore Justyce McClain continues to swing a hot bat and leads the Cowgirls with an overall .439 average and is batting .552 in conference games. She enters the weekend on a 12-game hitting streak.
 
Junior Erika Piancastelli has a .365 batting average with a team high 35 hits, 33 walks, 11 stolen bases and is tied for a team high seven home runs. Piancastelli ranks fifth in the nation in walks with 33.
 
Cowgirl rookie Alexsandra Flores leads the pitching staff with an 8-2 record and a 1.74 ERA. Flores leads the SLC with a 0.41 ERA and runs allowed (2) in conference games.
 
Senior Rachel Smith is 7-5 on the year with a 2.72 ERA and a team high 57 strikeouts. Smith has held SLC opponents to a .136 batting average and has allowed only three runs and eight hits in conference play.
 
Northwestern State (13-20-1, 3-6 SLC) enters the weekend following a series loss at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend. The Lady Demons have also lost 11of their last 15 games.
 
Kellye Kincannon leads NW State with a .291 average, eight home runs, 30 RBI and is second on the team with 30 hits. Sidney Salmans leads the team with 31 hits and nine stolen bases.
 
Mikayla Brown has seven wins (7-9) on the season with a 3.68 ERA and leads the pitching staff with 68 strikeouts. Katelyn Boles is 4-8 with a 3.53 ERA and 57 strikeouts.
