LAKE CHARLES-  After Hurricane Harvey canceled McNeese volleyball's initial home opener against Southern last week, the Cowgirls will now host Grambling at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4 in its home opener. All home matches will be played in Memorial Gym on campus and admission is free. Live streaming and live stats will be provided for all home matches. This young McNeese team (2-4) is coming off an 0-3 record at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational with its losses coming against Southern Miss, South Alabama and a heartbreaking five set loss to Alabama to close out tournament action Saturday. The weekend saw a lot of Cowgirls seeing playing time as well as a career high in digs from sophomore Angela McGownd against Alabama. Sophomore Shanna Spree was named to the all-tournament team after leading McNeese in kills in two matches.
 
Spree leads the Cowgirls on offense with a .273 hitting percent and is second on the team with 47 kills. Fellow sophomore Keegan Nelms leads the team with 48 kills. McGownd leads the Cowgirl defense with 108 digs for an average of 4.70 per set. Senior Adison Giambrone and Jenny D'Alessandro are leading in their respective categories. Giambrone has a team best 101 assists for an average of 4.39 per set while D'Alessandro has 18 blocks.
 
Grambling (2-5) is coming off a 1-4 record at the Mississippi State Bulldog Invitational over the weekend. The Tigers picked up their win in tournament play with a straight set win over South Florida in their final match of the tournament.
