LAKE CHARLES--- McNeese volleyball extended its winning streak to four matches Saturday with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21) Southland Conference victory over Nicholls to improve to 5-13 overall and 3-2 in the SLC. The loss drops Nicholls to 3-17 overall and 1-6 in the SLC.

"We had to really grind it out this match," said head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "Nicholls dug really well and they did a good job of tooling our block, especially early in the match.

The Cowgirls serving was the best it's been all season long and they ended the match with a season best six service aces.
Caitlin Sharrock and
Avery Kelly led McNeese with two service aces apiece.

"I liked our serving aggression all day and I like that we continue to remain balanced on offense. All five of our hitters are in a pretty good rhythm right now," Fitzgerald said.

Juniors
Keegan Nelms and
Katelyn Elliott paced the Cowgirls with 13 and 10 kills, respectively.

For Nelms, the native of Santa Fe, Texas, its her second straight match with 13 kills, tying her season high she set against UNO on Thursday. Nelms also led the Cowgirls with 12 digs, making this her fourth double double of the season.

The Cowgirls had another good match at the net, out blocking the Colonels 11-5. Once again, freshman Paige Have made her presence known to lead all players with seven blocks (two solos, five assisted). Senior
Ebony Lewis ended the match with five and sophomore
Allison Lippert was credited with four.

Sharrock led all players with 42 assists, her second match of the season with over 40 assists while
Alexandra Aguilera pitched in with 10 digs.

McNeese will travel to Northwestern State next Thursday and Southeastern La. next Saturday before returning home to host Incarnate Word on Oct. 16.
