Softball Hosts UL-Lafayette Wednesday

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball returns to Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond Wednesday to host 22nd ranked Louisiana-Lafayette in a 6 p.m. game. Live streaming and live stats will be available with links located at mcneesesports.com.
 
Tickets are still available for the contest and can be purchased at the gate. Prices are $12 for adults and $8 for youth (ages 5-12).
 
ULL leads the series 26-3 and have won the last nine meetings including a 6-0 win last season at the NCAA Regional Tournament in Baton Rouge. The last Cowgirl win over the Cajuns was a 2-1 victory in Lafayette during the 2010 season.
 
McNeese (30-15) enters the game after a Southland Conference series win over Nicholls last weekend that put the Cowgirls into a four-way tie for first place. The Cowgirls return to SLC action this weekend at Lamar.
 
Justyce McClain enters the game with a .434 batting average, which ranks her 25th in the nation and 63 hits, ranking her 5th in the nation in that category. McClain also leads McNeese with 44 runs scored and 19 stolen bases.
 
Erika Piancastelli leads the team with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, 42 RBI and 37 walks. She ranks 12th in the nation in home runs and 21st in doubles and slugging percent (.815).
 
Morgan Catron is batting .336 with 10 homers, 39 RBI and 24 walks along with 41 hits. Lauren Brown has upped her average to .329 with 23 hits, 22 runs scored, 14 RBI and 13 stolen bases. Also batting over .300 is Alexandria Saldivar. Saldivar enters the game with a .319 average with 25 RBI and 29 hits.
 
Sophomore Alexsandra Flore leads the pitching staff with a 14-7 record and a 2.68 ERA in 28 appearances. Flores has 66 strikeouts in 117.1 innings.
 
ULL (28-11) is coming off a Sun Belt series win over Texas State where they took two out of three from the Bobcats with a 3-1 win on Monday in the series finale.
 
Alissa Dalton leads the Cajuns with a .397 average, 54 hits, nine doubles, and is tied for second with 21 RBI. Beth Ashley leads the team with 24 RBI while Lexie Comeaux and Casidy Chaumont are tied for a team high with four home runs apiece.
