Cowboys play in David Toms Intercollegiate this weekend

SHREVEPORT – The McNeese Cowboy golf team will hit the links for its third tournament of the fall on Saturday and Sunday when it takes part in the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU and played at the Southern Trace Country Club here in Shreveport.
 
The tournament will get underway with 36 holes on Saturday and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start while the final 18 holes will be played on Sunday, also with a shotgun start of 8:30.
 
McNeese is one of 12 teams entered in the field, joining the host LSU as well as Arkansas Tech, Memphis, ULM, Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Wichita State, Southeastern La., Central Arkansas, Nicholls, and New Orleans.
 
First-year Cowboys' head coach Derek Plucienski has announced his starting five of Greg Holmes, Theo Berger, Rick Frauenberger, Jack Hearn, and Louis Talarczyk.
 
Holmes currently leads the team and is ranked tied for sixth in the Southland Conference with a scoring average of 72.0 after two tournaments. Talarczyk follows him with a 74.8 mark, Hearn at 75.5, and Berger with a 76.0. Frauenberger will be making his first appearance on the links this season.
