Fisbeck Named Preseason All-American

| By:

TUSCON, AZ- McNeese baseball's senior second baseman Nate Fisbeck was named to the Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American Team as a Third-Team member on Tuesday.

He is one of only two Southland Conference players to be selected to any of the three teams, joining SLC Conference Freshman and Player of the Year Colton Cowser of Sam Houston State who also made the third team.

"This is a great honor for Nate," said head baseball coach Justin Hill. "He has the numbers to back it up.

"I'm incredibly proud of him, his work ethic in the classroom and his leadership within our program. He truly makes those around him better.

After missing his entire junior season due to injury in 2018, Fisbeck came back and started in all 61 games for the Cowboys and helped lead them to a Southland Conference Tournament Championship and a NCAA Regional appearance for the first time since 2003.

He finished the season with a batting average of .304 and led the team in several offensive categories, including homeruns (12), hits (78), doubles (21), RBI's (50), runs scored (53), total bases (139), and slugging percentage (.541).

With such an outstanding season, he earned several postseason honors including, LSWA All-Louisiana First Team, ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Central All-Region First Team, and 2019 All-Southland Conference Second Team.

As one of the leaders of this veteran Cowboys squad, Fisbeck will look to continue that success in the upcoming 2020 season and help the team get ready to defend their title

The season will kick-off at Joe Miller Ballpark on Friday, February 14 with a four-game series against Mississippi Valley State.
