Coach Gilroy Announces 2020 Track and Field Schedule

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Track and Field team released its 2020 indoor and outdoor schedule on Tuesday. The schedule features three meets hosted by the Cowboys, one indoor and two outdoors.
 
To kick the season off the Pokes will compete in the Ted Nelson Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, on January 17. The following weekend McNeese will compete in the FasTrack Collegiate Invitational on January 24-25 in Houston.
 
The Cowboys will host the McNeese Indoor Invite on January 31, followed by a trip to South Bend, Ind. on February 7-8 for the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.
 
On February 14 McNeese will compete at Samford in the Samford Invite II before closing out the regular season at the Texas A&M Invitational on February 22.
 
McNeese will then end the indoor season by competing in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on March 1-2.
 
Qualifiers from the conference meet will have a chance to compete on the national stage at the NCAA Indoor National Championships on March 13-14.
 
Then, to open the outdoor track and field season, McNeese will host its annual Cowboy Relays on March 14, followed by a trip down I-10 on March 20-21 for the Louisiana Classic at UL-Lafayette.
 
On March 27-28 the squads will take part in three meets, the Rice Victor Lopez Invitational, Texas Relays and the Texas State Invite to close out the month of March.
 
On April 4 the Cowboys return home to host the McNeese Spring Time Classic before making their longest trip of the year to California for the Mt. Sac Relays on April 16.
 
After California, the team heads to Northwestern State for the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational on April 18 before heading to Baton Rouge for the LSU Alumni Gold on April 25.
 
Then to close of the outdoor regular season, they will participate in the Texas A&M Invitational on May 1, before gearing up for the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships in Abilene on May 15-17.
 
NCAA East Preliminaries will kick off on May 29 and finish on May 30.  The track and field season will come to a close following the NCAA National Championships on June 10-13.
