AZUSA, Calif. – Grace McKenzie ended the first day of the heptathlon event at the Bryan Clay Invitational in 10^th place in her group, totaling 3,336 points through four events.
 
The junior Cowgirl will conclude competition on Thursday with three events – long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.
 
In the four events on Wednesday, McKenzie set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 37-feet, 1-inch to finish 11^th out of 17 competitors in the group.
 
Group five is consisted of the strongest heptathlon performers out of the 79 multi-athletes entered and divided into five different groups.
 
Overall, McKenzie is positioned 13^th out of the 79 entrants.
 
She started the meet in the 100-meter hurdles where she clocked a time of 14.02 to finish eighth. She was slowed a bit after she clipped the No. 6 hurdle.
 
Following the hurdles, McKenzie cleared 5-7 in the high jump, 37-1 in the shot put, and ended the day in the 200 meters with a time of 24.97 to finish eighth in the group.
