McKenzie 10th after day 1 at Bryan Clay Multis

AZUSA, Calif. – Grace McKenzie ended the first day of the heptathlon event at the Bryan Clay Invitational in 10th place in her group, totaling 3,336 points through four events.
 
The junior Cowgirl will conclude competition on Thursday with three events – long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.
 
In the four events on Wednesday, McKenzie set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 37-feet, 1-inch to finish 11th out of 17 competitors in the group.
 
Group five is consisted of the strongest heptathlon performers out of the 79 multi-athletes entered and divided into five different groups.
 
Overall, McKenzie is positioned 13th out of the 79 entrants.
 
She started the meet in the 100-meter hurdles where she clocked a time of 14.02 to finish eighth. She was slowed a bit after she clipped the No. 6 hurdle.
 
Following the hurdles, McKenzie cleared 5-7 in the high jump, 37-1 in the shot put, and ended the day in the 200 meters with a time of 24.97 to finish eighth in the group.
