TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will make its seventh overall postseason appearance and first appearance in the NISC (National Invitational Softball Championship) this weekend at the Nacogdoches, Texas Region.

All regionals are double elimination, with the four regional winners advancing to the NISC championship round in Fort Collins, Colorado May 24-26.Â

Along with McNeese and Stephen F. Austin (35-21) in Nacogdoches region will be Middle Tennessee (29-28) and Texas-Arlington (30-26).

McNeese (30-30) will open tournament action at 3 p.m. against Middle Tennessee (29-28). The Raiders are members of C-USA who finished third in the East Division of their conference standings and made a run in the conference tournament before falling to North Texas and eventual champion Louisiana Tech.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams with McNeese having won the previous two. The last time McNeese and MTSU faced each other was in 2018 at the Eastern Michigan Madeira Beach Spring Invitational in Madeira, Florida. The Cowgirls picked up an 8-5 win.

In the first meeting in 2013 at the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic, McNeese defeated the MTSU 6-3.

Senior outfielder
Justyce McClain, who was named to the Southland Conference All-Tournament team, continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .405 average, 81 hits which ranks her third in the nation, 39 runs and is second with 30 stolen bases and 16 walks.

Junior shortstop
Cori McCrary leads the team with 26 RBI and 35 stolen bases. She is second with a .306 average, 28 runs, 57 hits, and 10 doubles.

Demi Boudreaux has a team high 14 doubles and sophomore outfielder
Toni Perrin has a team high four homeruns.

Saleen Flores (5-5) leads the staff with a 1.54 ERA and is second with 57 strikeouts in 109 innings.

Alexsandra Flores is 13-12 with a 2.92 ERA, leads the staff with 62 strikeouts and 143.2 innings.

Caroline Settle is 8-9 with a 3.30 ERA with 51 strikeouts,
Amber Coons is 4-4 with a 2.32 ERA and 38 strikeouts, and Ashely Koncir has a 4.50 ERA with five strikeouts.
