LAKE CHARLES— The McNeese-Lamar Southland Conference softball series has been altered with a doubleheader now being played beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday evening and a 1 o'clock single game on Saturday.
This all due to the possbile threat of rain Saturday afternoon.
Seniors
Justyce McClain (Phoenix, AZ.),
Taylor Edwards (Moss Bluff),
Aubree Turbeville (Mesquite, TX.), and
Megan Holmes (Murrieta, CA.) will be recognized following the conclusion of Saturday's game.

This group of seniors have been part of three 40-win seasons, 152 career wins, 81 Southland Conference victories, two regular season Southland Conference titles, three Southland Conference Tournament titles, and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

McNeese (25-28, 16-8 SLC) clinched a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament in Natchitoches (May 7-10) a few weeks ago but will be playing for tournament seeding as will all of the eight teams that have qualified.

The Cowgirls enter the weekend against Lamar (23-30, 14-10 SLC) tied for fourth place with Southeastern Louisiana. Lamar enters the weekend in sixth place.

McClain continues to lead McNeese and the league with an overall .405 batting average and 70 hits. Her 70 hits rank her eighth and her .405 batting average ranks her 72
nd in the nation. She is batting .407 in league games and leads the SLC with 33 hits.

Junior
Cori McCrary leads the Cowgirls with 24 RBI and 32 stolen bases. She is second on the team with a .313 batting average. McCrary has a league best 22 stolen bases in conference games.

Turbeville is third on the team with a .263 batting average and has thrown out a league high 14 baserunners including eight in conference games.

The Cowgirl pitching staff ranks third in the SLC with an overall 2.62 ERA and a 1.94 ERA in conference games behind Nicholls and Sam Houston State.

Alexsandra Flores (10-11) ranks fourth with a conference 1.49 ERA and leads the SLC with three saves. Alexsandra has thrown a team high 120.2 innings and is second on the team with 53 strikeouts.

Freshman
Saleen Flores (5-5) has an overall team low ERA of 1.76 and ranks seventh in the SLC with a 1.63 ERA. Saleen also has a team high 56 strikeouts.

Sophomore
Amber Coons (4-4) is second on the team with a 2.36 ERA in 65.1 innings along with 38 strikeouts.

Caroline Settle (6-8) has an overall 3.15 ERA but has a 1.91 ERA in league play.
Lamar enters the weekend ranked eighth in the SLC with a .263 batting average and ranks fourth with a 2.04 ERA.

Jade Lewis leads the Cardinals with a .311 batting average, 46 hits, 10 doubles and 20 RBI. Savana Guidry is second on the team with a .307 average while Shannon Klaus leads Lamar with 25 stolen bases.

In the circle, Aaliyah Ruiz (6-5) leads the pitching staff with a 2.03 ERA and 63 strikeouts. Erin Kyle (8-7) has a 2.31 ERA with 37 strikeouts and Julie Voluntad (6-10) has a 2.84 ERA with 48 strikeouts and a team high 103.2 innings pitched.

The regular season title still hasn't been claimed and three teams (Sam Houston State, Nicholls, Stephen F. Austin) all have a chance at the regular season title.

Sam Houston State enters the weekend leading the conference race at 20-4 and will host third place Stephen F. Austin (17-7) this weekend. Second place Nicholls (19-5) will host Southeastern La. (16-8) while the other two teams in the conference tournament field, Northwestern State (13-11) will host Central Arkansas (11-13).
