LAKE CHARLES – Former McNeese Cowboy golf standout Robert (Bob) MacIntyre continues to make some noise in his first season on the PGA European Tour, when this past weekend, the Scot finished second at the Made In Denmark tournament.
The 22-year-old who played the 2014-15 fall and 2015 spring seasons at McNeese and was named the 2015 Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, finished one stroke off the lead and placed second in his second consecutive tournament.
MacIntyre nearly pulled off the win after coming millimeters from an eagle on the 14
th hole at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Farsø, Denmark, then nearly chipped in for a birdie on the next hole.
One of four graduates off the European Challenge Tour in 2018, MacIntyre has appeared in 14 tournaments on the season, finishing second twice and four other top 20 marks.
"It's just golf," said MacIntyre after this weekend's tourney. "We've just got to keep knocking on that door and one will open."
MacIntyre is currently ranked 13
th in the European Tour Race to Dubai which is a season-long competition that spans 41 tournaments in 31 countries across four continents to crown the European Tour's No. 1 player. MacIntyre is also ranked No. 123 in the world golf rankings and has won 709,605 euros in 14 events which equals to $792,256 American dollars.
Prior to his second place finish at the Made In Denmark, MacIntyre tied for second at the Betfred British Masters, and in his 14 tournaments played on the season, he's made the cut in all but two events.
Next up, the European Tour will hold the Belgian Knockout May 30-June 2 at the Rinkven International Golf Course in Antwerp, Belgium.
