LAKE CHARLES – McNeese senior pitcher
Bryan King has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Baseball First Team released by CoSIDA on Thursday.
King, a senior from Parker, Colorado, has compiled a 4.00 grade point average in natural conservation management and will receive his Bachelor of Science degree on Saturday morning at McNeese's commencement ceremony.
The left-handed pitcher is wrapping up a four-year career with the Cowboys, one that saw him named as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2016.
"Bryan is one of the hardest workers I've had the pleasure of coaching," said Cowboys' head coach
Justin Hill. "He is a fierce competitor on the field, and his academic accomplishments are well earned."
Two weeks ago, he received the Rowdy Award as the Male Highest Individual GPA at the athletic department's first-ever Rowdys banquet.
He's a three-time recipient of the Southland Conference Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll and will earn a fourth award at the end of the baseball season this year.
During his playing career, King has appeared in 68 games and making 41 starts. He's 4-1 his senior season with a 3.43 ERA in 18 appearances and two starts.
King will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. That team will be announced in June.
The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
