SAN ANTONIO – McNeese freshman Greg Holmes paced the Cowboys on the final day of the UTSA Lone Star Invitational as the completed the third round with a 1-over par 73 while finished the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 13^th place at 4-over par on the individual leaderboard.
 
As a team, the Cowboys shot a 302 for the final 18 holes, just eight shots off the best score on the day. Overall, McNeese finished with a 912 to place 11^th in the tourney field while South Alabama won a three-team playoff against Texas-Arlington and Houston, to win the team title.
 
Playing in the No. 1 slot and starting on hole No. 13, Holmes recorded 15 pars, two bogeys and a birdie on the day. He ended the tournament with nine total birdies and ranked tied for third among all competitors on par 3 holes with an average score of 2.92 and tied for fifth on par 5s with an average score of 4.75.
 
In addition, his 34 total pars ranked as the seventh-most in the field and the nine birdies ranked also ranked as the seventh-most.
 
Louis Talarczyk shot a 75 on the day for the second-lowest score for the Cowboys while Jack Hearn posted a 76, Reid Giardina 78, and Chase White an 80.
 
For the tournament, Hearn finished second on the team at 13-over par followed by Talarczyk at 14-over, White at 19-over and Giardina at 23-over.
 
Lipscomb's Nolan Ray won the individual title with a 9-under 207 to edge out ULM's Guillaume Fanonnel's 208 total.
 
McNeese will next be in action Oct. 5-6 when it takes part in the LSU David Toms Intercollegiate at the Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport.
