NEW ORLEANS – McNeese's men's and women's cross country teams were recognized on Thursday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academics as they continue their long standing tradition of earning the All-Academic award by the organization under head coach Brendon Gilroy.

The Cowgirls have garnered the recognition for the 10th time in the last 12 years after posting a team GPA of 3.48 while the Cowboys compiled a 3.21 grade point average.

A total of 22 student-athletes, combining the Cowboys and Cowgirls, recorded a 3.0 GPA or better last fall – 10 men and 12 women with four posting a perfect 4.0 mark – Markus Kopp, Ciara Gilroy, Haile Gilroy and Sophie Grabner.

Overall, there were 191 men's and 237 women's teams that received the All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
