LAKE CHARLES—Coming off a perfect 5-0 week with midweek wins over South Alabama and UL-Monroe then three run-rule wins at the Mardi Gras Mambo over the weekend, McNeese softball enters a week where they will play seven games in six days beginning with a Tuesday 6 p.m. game at Southern Miss, a Wednesday game at Troy before facing Texas-Arlington, Arizona and Alabama on the weekend at the Easton Crimson Classic beginning Friday.
McNeese (13-2) and winners of their last six games is coming off three straight run-rule games at the Mardi Gras Mambo Classic where they outscored the opponents 38-2. The Cowgirls picked up win over Middle Tennessee, Detroit Mercy and Jacksonville State.
The Cowgirls are led on offense by freshman
Caylon Brabham's .514 batting average, 18 hits, six doubles, and 12 RBI. Senior
Brenique Wright is coming off a week where she led the team with a .727 batting average on an 8 for 11 plate appearance with five RBI and three doubles. Wright is currently batting .406 with 13 hits, three doubles and 10 RBI. Senior
Alexandria Saldivar is third on the team with a .353 batting average while
Toni Perrin leads the team with three home runs and
Lauren Brown is tops with eight stolen bases.
The Cowgirl pitching staff enters the week with the nation's lowest ERA (0.74) and ranks fourth in the nation with six shutouts.
Sophomore
Saleen Flores leads the staff with a 0.58 ERA and a record of 4-1, senior
Caroline Settle has a 3-0 record with a 0.84 ERA,
Alexsandra Flores is 3-1 with a 1.09 ERA,
Ashley Koncir is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, and
Whitney Tate is 2-0 with a 0.62 ERA.
Southern Miss (8-3) is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Central Arkansas Michelle Short Memorial Classic where they picked up run-rule wins over Jackson State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Morehead State before concluding tournament play with a 7-4 win over Central Arkansas.
Troy is 10-3 on the year and is coming off a 4-1 record at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Florida. The Trojans picked up wins over Oakland, Stetson, Morgan State, and Villanova with their only loss coming against Clemson.
