Cowgirls Host UCA In SLC Opener Saturdaty

McNeese women's basketball will host Central Arkansas (2-6) in the Southland Conference opener for both teams at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Burton Coliseum prior to the men's contest against UCA at 4 p.m.  The game is the first of three straight home games for the Cowgirls.
 
The first 2,000 fans at all home games will be admitted free. Donations will be accepted to help rebuild McNeese following hurricanes Laura and Delta.
 
McNeese (0-7), who was picked to finish 12th in the SLC preseason poll will looking for its first win of the season. The Cowgirls haven't played a game since its Dec. 19 game at No. 7 Baylor. The Cowgirls game at UL-Monroe on Dec. 21 was postponed and its Dec. 29 game at Grambling was canceled.
 
Junior Divine Tanks heads into the game leading the Cowgirls in both scoring (7.4 ppg.) and rebounds (5.1 rpg.).
 
UCA was picked to finish sixth in the SLC preseason poll, has its two wins of the season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Sugar Bears are coming off a 72-49 road loss at No. 13 Mississippi State on Dec. 20.
 
Jalisa Outlaw leads UCA in scoring with 14.5 ppg. while Lucy Ibeh leads the team with 6.6 rpg.
