Lynn Kennedy's era will begin on the road Tuesday, Nov. 9 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas when the Cowgirls open the regular season at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Cowgirls, who return four players from a year ago have added 10 newcomers to the 2021-22 roster including four true freshmen. The Cowgirls' leading scorer
Kyla Hamilton (10.5 ppg.) and leading rebounder
Divine Tanks (7.5) from a year ago both return to the team.

McNeese played one exhibition this season, that resulting in a 93-40 Cowgirl win over Dillard on Oct. 30. From that game, the Cowgirls knocked down 15 three-pointers and took control of the game early on.

Four players scored in double figures and freshman
Cristina Gil led the way with 19 points.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff is under the direction of third year head coach Dawn Thornton. Last year, the Lady Lions ended the season with a 3-18 record and their top scorer and rebounder Khadijah Brown returns for her sophomore season. Brown averaged 15.2 ppg. and 5.1 rpg. as a freshman last season.

- Hansen followed Kennedy to McNeese
from Portland State. Hansen was a two-time
All-Big Sky the past two years.
Hansen became the 20th player in Portland
State history to score 1,000 points, tied
the school record for points in a Big Sky
Tournament game with 27, tied the Portland
State school record for 3-pt. field goal
percent in a Big Sky Tournament game.
- McNeese was picked to finish 6th in the
Southland Conference preseason poll
- Junior
Divine Tanks was named preseason
first team. Tanks averaged 10.3 ppg. and led
the Cowgirls with 7.5 rpg. as a sophomore.

ranked no. 10 in the Associated Press Preseason Poll
