Jack Hearn places 25th at ULL Louisiana Classics

Jack Hearn sinks a birdie.
LAFAYETTE – McNeese's Jack Hearn shot a 1-over par 73 here Tuesday in the final round of the Louisiana Classics hosted by ULL at the Oakbourne Country Club, and ended the three-round tournament 2-over par and in a tie for 25th place on the individual leaderboard.
 
As a team, the Cowboys moved up one spot on the day and finished 13th with a team total score of 896. Fifth-ranked Illinois won the team title with an 823 followed by ULL with an 861, No. 38 North Texas an 864, 49th-ranked Sam Houston an 867 and ULM with an 873 to round out the top five teams.
 
UMKC, Southern Illinois and Rice tied for sixth with an 873, Illinois State and Texas State with an 879 to tie for ninth, UTEP 11th with an 887, Michigan followed with an 893, McNeese 896 and Oral Roberts an 899.
 
Hearn started the day on the 10th hole and birdied two of the first three to get to 2-under for the day and 1-under for the tournament. He made the turn at 1-over then shot an even front nine to close out with a 73.
 
Other Cowboy finishers saw Reid Giardina and Jake Leatherwood tied in 58th place with a three-round score of 220. Theo Berger shot a 229 and Trey Meadows a 236.
 
Three Illinois golfers finished 1-2-3 with Jerry Ji taking home the individual title with a 203. Teammates Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Michael Feagles tied for second with scores of 207.
 
The Cowboys will be back in action April 5-6 when they take part in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted by Rice.
