McKINNEY, Texas – McNeese will open up play in the 2021 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships on Monday at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.
Three rounds will be played in the championships with 18 holes being played each day Monday through Wednesday.
Individually, McNeese sophomore
Jack Hearn is ranked second in the conference with a 71.4 strokes per round average, trailing just Sam Houston's William Holcomb who's at 71.0 per round.
Jake Leatherwood is tied for 23
rd with a 75.0 mark, giving McNeese two players in the top 25.
Hearn has finished sixth his last two tournaments, and in three tourneys played this spring, has scored par or better in six of nine rounds played and shot in the 60s four times with a low of 68 twice – at the Louisiana Classics and the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
The Cowboys will enter the 54-hole event ranked fifth out of 11 teams in the Southland Conference with an average score of 298.8 per round. Sam Houston tops the league with a 288.2 mark followed by Abilene Christian (294.1), Lamar (297.0) and Southeastern Louisiana (297.6) to round out the top five.
