LAKE CHARLES –  McNeese softball will close out its home slate this week beginning with a 6:30 pm. non-conference game against Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday. The Cowgirls will end their week by hosting Northwestern State in a three-game Southland Conference series beginning with a single game Friday at 6:30 p.m. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
This weekend will be the final home weekend series for the 2021 seniors who will be recognized following Saturday's doubleheader. Since the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19, McNeese will honor its 2020 seniors prior to Saturday's doubleheader.
McNeese (25-22) enters Wednesday's game having won six of its last seven games including its Southland Conference series win over Incarnate Word last weekend where they won two of three games. The Cowgirls picked up the first two wins in the series before dropping the series finale 3-2 in nine innings.
Kaylee Lopez enters the week with a team best .321 batting average with 34 hits and eight doubles.
Toni Perrin is batting .313 while
Cori McCrary is batting .306.
Jenna Edwards (6-1) leads the pitching staff with a 2.66 ERA and is second on the team with 55 strike outs.
ULM (13-26) comes to Lake Charles following a game at Grambling Tuesday where they are looking to snap a six-game losing streak.
