LAKE CHARLES –  McNeese softball, coming off a 7-1 non-conference win over Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, will return to Southland Conference action this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to second place Southeastern Louisiana (21-13, 10-2 SLC) for a three-game series.

The series will begin with a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and will conclude with a single game at 12 p.m. Saturday.

McNeese (18-19, 8-4 SLC) enters the weekend in fifth place, two games out of second place. SE La. and Central Arkansas are both tied for second place heading into the weekend.
One of the teams will have their winning streak ended come Friday.  McNeese enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak and have won its last two conference series. The Lions are on a five-game winning streak and are coming off a 6-4 home win over Mississippi State on Monday. Their only conference losses have come in a 6-5 road loss at Houston Baptist and a 5-4 home loss against Abilene Christian two weeks ago.

The Cowgirls will enter the game leading the nation with 27 double plays and double plays per game (0.73). The Lady Lions lead the SLC with 105 in stolen bases (3.09 per game) and triples with nine.

Kaylee Lopez continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .329 batting average and is second on the team with 25 hits and seven doubles. Alayis Seneca is batting .306 with 19 hits and two doubles. Cori McCrary leads the team with 33 hits, 10 doubles, six home runs, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and is batting .300.

In the circle, Jenna Edwards (5-1) leads the pitching staff with a 2.16 ERA, 45 strikeouts, and four saves. Whitney Tate (6-7) leads the staff in victories, innings pitched (77.1) and has 34 strikeouts under her belt. Tate enters the series with a 3.96 ERA. Saleen Flores is 5-6 on the year with a 6.10 ERA and Ashley Vallejo is 2-5 with a 4.39 ERA. Vallejo is second on the team with 43 strikeouts while Flores has 26 strikeouts.

The Lions are led at the plate by Audrey Greely's .415 batting average and six doubles. SE La. has three players with 20 or more stolen bases and are led by Lindsey Rizzo's 22 on the year.  Aeriyl Mass has 21 and Cameron Goodman has 20.  Mass also leads the team in runs scored (29), hits (45), RBI (23), and home runs (3).

Heather Zumo (12-2) leads the pitching staff in victories, ERA (2.14) innings pitched (98.0), and strikeouts (103). MC Comeaux is 8-5 with a 5.14 ERA in 47.2 innings.
