LAKE CHARLES –  McNeese softball will conclude its regular season this weekend on the road with a three-game series at Nicholls beginning with a 5 p.m. doubleheader Friday. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. single game Saturday.

McNeese (28-23, 16-8 SLC), who clinched a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament, enters the weekend in third place behind regular season champion Stephen F. Austin and Central Arkansas. Nicholls (11-26, 4-20 SLC) will conclude its season this weekend.

Coming off a huge week where she garnered SLC Hitter of the Week, Kaylee Lopez heads into the series with a team high .373 batting average with 44 hits, nine doubles, 16 RBI, and 16 walks. Cori McCrary is also batting over .300 with a .308 average. McCrary leads the team with 49 hits, 14 doubles, 39 doubles and is second on the squad with eight home runs. Haylee Brinlee has a team best nine home runs and has hit one homer in three of the last four games including the walk off home run in the series finale against Northwestern State last Saturday.

The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for May 11-14 at North Oak Park in Hammond. The top eight teams with the highest point total following the season will advance to the tournament. The opening round of the tournament is single elimination between the No. 5-8 seeds. The remaining rounds will be double elimination. The championship game is set for Friday, May 14. Games 1-11 will be streamed live on the Southland Digital Network.
