Cowgirls Duo Nab Player of the Week Honors

FRISCO, Texas- McNeese Cowgirl senior goalie Emma Roccaforte and freshman defensive-minded midfielder Morgan Schooley have been named this week's Southland Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Week highlighting their exceptional play this previous week. Senior forward Anna Watson was also named honorable mention for her efforts on the offensive end the league announced Tuesday. Weekly awards are presented by GEICO.

Roccaforte was the backbone of a 2-0 shutout against Louisiana Tech and only allowed one goal against Sam Houston. A native of Nederland, Texas, Emma had 9 saves during her 173 minutes of play. She currently leads the conference with two shutouts for the season to go with her 93% save percentage, which leads the conference as well. 

Schooley, who hails from St. Augustine, FL. served as an intricate part of a Cowgirl defense who only allowed one goal in two games. Morgan also tallied her second career assist as she aided Abbi Morrell's first career goal against La. Tech. She played all 90 minutes in both games this past week. 

Anna Watson scored the game-winning goal for McNeese against La. Tech. She connected on a free kick from 40 yards out that sailed just over the goalkeeper. Played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss at Sam Houston.
