LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball closed out its first week of spring practice and sixth-year head coach James Landreneau has asked his team "Where do we want to go and how do we want to get there?"
With a roster of 12 returning players and 12 newcomers, Landreneau knows this team has the desire to be good.
Landreneau has added transfers to the roster who have multiple years of eligibility while having big game experience under their belt including utility Brianna Santos, infielder Josie Willingham, and outfielder Kendall Talley.
These transfers as well as returners such as infielders Caleigh Cross and Jil Poullard, outfielder Kaylee Lopez, and pitcher Whitney Tate will provide the team with a strong leadership foundation.
The fall season provided a good foundation, but the Cowgirls are working on getting back to game speed before opening the season against some of the toughest programs in collegiate softball.
"The only way to know how good you are is to play a good team," Landreneau noted. "The facility upgrades, Cajun food, and the Lake Charles hospitality have created a program that pulls fans and talent" allowing for the Cowgirls to host the most home games in recent history.
