WBB: Cowgirls Return Home To Host Arkansas State Tuesday

| By:
LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball returns home this week for two games beginning with a 7 p.m. game against Arkansas State on Tuesday, Nov. 29.  The Cowgirls will also host North American University at 7 p.m. this Thursday.  Tuesday's game will be televised in ESPN+.

McNeese (1-5) will look to snap a five-game losing streak after posting an 0-4 record during its Midwest road trip last week that saw the Cowgirls fall to Illinois, Bradley, No. 4 Ohio State, and Xavier.

The record doesn't indicate it, but head coach Lynn Kennedy saw improvement in each game last week and looks to continue seeing those improvements against Arkansas State and North American University.

One area the Cowgirls will look to improve on is its turnovers where they are averaging 21 per contest.  The Cowgirls will also look to improve on its offensive rebounding where opponents have outrebounded McNeese 93-75.

A bright spot for McNeese in the game against Xavier was the offensive production of Kaili Chamberlin and Desirae Hansen. Chamberlin has scored in double figures in the last two games and is coming off a 17-point game, tying her season high.  Hansen also scored a season high 17-points in the game, including her best three-point shooting of the season thus far, making 5 of 10 shots from behind the arc.

The Cowgirls enter the game averaging 62.8 points per game and 41.5 rebounds per game.  Divine Tanks leads the Cowgirls with 5.0 rpg. with a season high of 13 against Ecclesia in the season opener.

Arkansas State (3-3) has won three of its last four game including a 79-68 overtime win over Kansas City last Saturday.  The Red Wolves also have wins over Hendrix and Utah State.

The Red Wolves average 69.5 ppg. and 42.5 rpg.  They have four players averaging in double figures with Izzy Higginbottom leading the way with 15.5 ppg.  Anna Griffin leads the team with 10.8 rpg.
