This is the first-ever meeting between McNeese and Columbia.
McNeese and ULL are meeting for the 176th time overall. They met for the first time on April 1, 1960, the Ragin' Cajuns lead the series 99-76. McNeese is 48-42 in Lake Charles.
Last Time Out:
The Cowboys dropped two of three this past weekend against Cal State Northridge (27 RPI). The Pokes had 14 hits in game one but fell 9-6, Brad Burckel's game-tying homer in the ninth led to Antonio Gauthier's walk-off homer in the 10th inning to clinch game two, 4-3, and on Sunday, lost 6-4 in a game that nine Pokes recording hits. Peyton Johnson was an honorable mention for Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, he drove in a team-high five runs while hitting .333.
About McNeese:
Tre' Obregon III (.357), Brad Burckel (.344), and Payton Harden (.323) lead the offense in hitting. Peyton Johnson leads the club with 14 runs driven in and is tied with Burckel, Obregon III, Julian Gonzales, and Kade Morris for a club-high of two home runs. Five Pokes have double-digit RBIs (Johnson, Gonzales, Burckel, Obregon III, Harden).
On the mound, Chance Stone will make his fourth start of the season. He sits at 1-2 with a 5.84 ERA and is fifth on the team with 13 Ks in 12.1 innings.
About Columbia:
Columbia enters Lake Charles at 4-6 after having played a three-game weekend series at Baylor where the Lions went 1-2. They won the second game of a Saturday doubleheader, 11-4. Probable starter Derek Yoo has made two appearances totaling 1.2 innings. The Lions are hitting .241 as a team and have hit ten home runs in ten games.
About ULL:
The Ragin' Cajuns took two of three at Houston this past weekend. They opened the season with two wins against no. 15 UC Irvine. Carson Roccaforte leads ULL in every major offensive category (.392, 3 HRs, 21 RBIs, 8 SBs). Conner Kimple (.304) and Heath Hood (.300) are their second and third leading hitters.
