NACOGDOCHES, Texas - One week after breaking the McNeese Cowgirl school record in the high jump, Sakari Famous went a quarter-inch higher on Saturday to set a new record at the SFA Carl Kight Invitational and Multis.
Famous tied for first in the event after she cleared 5-feet-11.5 inches to break her own record of 5-11.25 set last week at the LSU Battle on the Boarder and was one of many impressive outings for both the Cowgirls and Cowboys at the SFA three-day meet.
Three McNeese athletes were double winners on the day - Cowboy sprinter Zac Martin in the 100 and 200-meters, middle-distance runner Evans Kemboi in the 800 and 1500, and Cowgirl Dreunna Washington in the 100m and long jump.
Martin set new personal records in the 100-meters with a time of 10.49 and again in the 200m at 21.17. Kemboi won the 800m with a PR time of 1:52.38 and ran a 3:53.88 for a new personal best to win the 1500. Washington won 100-meters with a PR time of 11.70 then won the long jump with a leap of 19-9.
Overall, the Cowboys and Cowgirls brought home 13 first place finishes.
