LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball will take on Lamar in home and home competitions this weekend's three game series. The series will open at Lamar with a single game Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. and will close with a doubleheader at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. The first game of Saturday's doubleheader will broadcast on ESPN+ while the second game can be seen on subscription based Cowboy Insider. 

McNeese (26-17), leads the series 24-2 and are on the longest winning streak over the Cardinals (9-27) with 11 wins since 2017. 

McNeese is coming off a 7-1 loss to No. 21 LSU on Tuesday. Lamar is coming off a three-game series against Stephen F. Austin last weekend where the Ladyjacks completed a series sweep of the Cardinals.  

Jil Poullard continues to lead the Cowgirls at the plate with a .373 batting average, a .696 slugging percentage, 24 walks, nine doubles, six home runs, and 33 RBI. Alayis Seneca and Poullard are tied with a team-high 38 hits apiece. Talley leads the team with 35 runs scored and is second on the team with a .327 batting average, a .496 slugging percentage, and six doubles. Toni Perrin has stolen a team-high of 15 bases.  

Shaelyn Sanders (6-2) leads the Cowgirls' pitching staff with a 2.08 ERA with one save in 64.0 innings of action. With a 2.65 ERA, one save, and 111.0 innings, Ashley Vallejo (10-7) leads the Cowgirls with 86 strikeouts. 

Lamar is led at the plate by Kaylee Ancelot with a .273 batting average, a .485 slugging percentage, 19 walks, five home runs, and 48 at bats. In the circle, Aaliyah Ruiz (7-12) leads the pitching staff with a 3.55 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 116.1 innings.
