LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball will continue its 11-game home stand this weekend by hosting its second Southland Conference three-game series of the season against Southeastern Friday, April 8 at 6 and a doubleheader Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond. Friday's game will broadcast live on ESPN+, the second of six McNeese softball ESPN+ productions this season. Saturday's game will broadcast on Cowboy Insider.

McNeese (22-14, SLC 6-0) is coming off its longest game of the season, a 6-5 (13 inn.) win over UL-Lafayette to extend its winning streak to 10 games. This was the first home series win against the Cajuns since 2007.

"Southeastern has been a really solid team, scoring runs and putting a ton of pressure on the offense," said head coach James Landreneau. "The pitching staff has a lot of arms who attack the strike zone so they are a hard team to prepare for. SLU is off to one of the best starts they have had in years. After the emotional win over UL-Lafayette the challenge will be, can we mentally prepare for a tough three-game series?"

Jil Poullard leads the league with a .744 slugging percentage and continues to lead the Cowgirls at the plate with a .378 batting average, 20 walks, eight doubles, six home runs, and 30 RBI. Poullard, Toni Perrin, and Reese Reyna are tied for a team high of 13 stolen bases. Talley leads the team and the SLC with 32 runs scored and is second on the team with a .360 batting average and a .539 slugging percentage. Alayis Seneca and Tally are tied with a team high of 32 hits.

Shaelyn Sanders (6-0) leads the Cowgirls' pitching staff and is fourth in the league with a 1.76 ERA with one save during her 55.2 innings of action. With a 2.84 ERA and 88.2 innings of action in the circle, Ashley Vallejo (8-6) leads the Cowgirls with 68 strikeouts.

The Cowgirls currently lead the Southland Conference with 120 walks, 160 RBI, nine triples, and are second in the league with 90 stolen bases.

Southeastern (25-10, 3-0 SLC) is currently on a seven-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Jackson state during a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday. The Lions opened SLC play with a series sweep over Incarnate Word last weekend.

The Lions lead the nation and conference with 92 stolen bases. They also lead the league with 195 RBI, a .327 batting average, 53 doubles, and 293 hits. The Southeastern pitching staff leads the SLC with 25 wins.

Cam Goodman leads SLU and the SLC with a .425 batting average. Madison Rayner leads with a .590 slugging percentage, 13 doubles, 14 walks, and 59 total bases. Rayner leads the SLC with 35 RBI.
