FRISCO, Texas—Sophomore hurler
Ashley Vallejo has been named this week's Southland Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Sunday. The honor is her second consecutive and fourth of the season. She was also named Pitcher of the Week last week (May 2).
The native of New Waverly, Texas completed an undefeated conference regular season with two wins against Nicholls to improve to 9-0 in league action to help McNeese clinch the Southland Conference regular season title. Both of her wins were complete game wins over the Colonels including a 3-0 shutout victory in the final game of the series giving her eight shutouts on the season, five of them coming in conference games.
For the series, Vallejo allowed only six hits, one unearned run with nine strikeouts in 14.0 innings.
