NFCA Gulf All-Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—McNeese junior outfielder Nyjah Fontenot has been named to the NFCA Gulf All-Region softball team, the organization announced Wednesday the team prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament. The Gulf region includes D1 teams from the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Fontenot, a native of Lake Charles was named to the second team as an outfielder and is one of 37 players named to the team.  She currently has a .356 batting average with 48 hits, nine doubles, one triple, eight homeruns, .615 slugging percent, 19 walks, and 12 stolen bases.

It's the third straight season, McNeese has a player named to the all-region team.  Senior third baseman Jada Muñoz was named to the third team in 2025, and pitcher Shaelyn Sanders was named to the third team in 2024.

Fontenot is the first McNeese player to be named to the second team since All-American Erika Piancastelli was named to the second team as utility in 2017.
