WBB: Cowgirls Return Home Thursday To Host UIW

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese women's basketball returns home Thursday, Feb. 16 to host Incarnate Word in its Community Night.  Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Legacy Center. The game marks one of three regular season home games remaining on the schedule. It's also Thirsty Thursday Night with $1 beer being sold on the CITGO Poke Plaza level.
 
McNeese is inviting all local groups, businesses, or teams to attend Thursday's Southland Conference matchup.  Group rates are 1-50 individuals ($10 general admission ticket per individual) or 50+ individuals ($5 general admission).  Groups are encouraged to sign up HERE.
 
The Cowgirls (9-17, 7-6 SLC, who have lost four of their last five games including a 65-59 road loss at UNO last Saturday, enters the game in a three-way tie for fifth place with Houston Christian and Northwestern State with five regular season games remaining.
 
The Cowgirls continue to lead the league in scoring (65.8) and a 44.0 field goal percent in league games and are second in the league in three-point field goal percent (33.3), assists (15.0) steals (10.2), defensive rebounds (26.7).
 
Paris Mullens continues to come off the bench to lead the Cowgirls in scoring with 9.4 ppg. while Divine Tanks continues to lead the team with 6.0 rpg.
 
UIW (10-13, 5-8 SLC) has lost five of its last seven games and enter Thursday's game tied for eighth place in the SLC standings and are coming off a 74-67 home loss to Lamar last Saturday.
 
 
NOTES
- It's the second meeting of the season between the teams. McNeese won the first meeting 69-34 in San Antonio on Jan. 26
- McNeese holds a 7-6 series record and have won three of the last four meetings
- McNeese is coming off a 65-59 road loss at UNO last Saturday
- McNeese leads the league in scoring (65.8 ppg.) and field goal percent (44.0) in conference games.  The Cowgirls also rank second in SLC games in three-point field goal percent (33.3), assists (15.0) steals (10.2), defensive rebounds (26.7).

- Desirae Hansen leads the league with a 46.5 three-point field goal percent in SLC games.  Hansen has made 33 three-pointers in league play.
